Formal Language

Mrs Tui has reminded me that a suffix is a letter or a few letters
that have been added onto the end of a word and changes
the meaning of the word, for example Learn and Learner .
Here is an Activity I have done:

  1. As slippery as an eel.(Simile)
  2. Arnie was a man-mountain.(Metaphor)
  3. He was a lion in battle.(Metaphor)
  4. She is as pretty as a picture.(Simile)
  5. The striker was a goal machine.(Metaphor)
  6. The torch lit up the room as if the sun had risen early.(Simile
  7. The moon was a misty shadow.(Metaphor)
  8. My friend has a face like a bag of spanners.(Simile)

Narrative Writing

Learn - I am learning to write a story with a Simile and a Metaphor
Yellow - Metaphor
Blue - Simile
It was a Sunny Day in the woods, Mother had told her daughter Ivy to go and
give some bread to her Grandmother,Ivy’s Grandmother has the heart of a loving
person . Ivy was a nice little girl, she always wore a blue hood, blue shoes and
she 2 beautiful blue eyes.

On her journey she ran into a Wolf as big as a tall building,The wolf had
sharp teeth and great big ears,”Hello”she said “Hello, where are you going”
the wolf had said, “To my Grandmother’s house straight ahead”she said
“Wow, look at those beautiful flowers maybe you should get some for
your Grandmother” the wolf said “yeah thank you”she said, then the wolf
ran to Ivy’ grandmother’s house.

Once Ivy got to her grandmother’s house she was hiding and the Wolf was
in bed, “Hey, Grandma”Ivy said “woah, what have you got here”the wolf said
“I brought you some bread” “Why thank you dear”the wolf said
“wait a minute, you don’t have great big teeth and big fluffy ears”Ivy said
“aahhhhhhh”Ivy screams, then a Lumberjack comes and kills the wolf.

Technology Wood

Step 1.  I used a Ruler and a Pencil to make a full size working drawing of my Tow Truck because it would help me know the measurements of my piece of wood.

Step 2.  I used a Pencil,Tri-Square and a Ruler to copy the measurements from my drawing onto the piece of wood.

Step 3.  I marked a square line(at 90 degrees) across and along the side using a Pencil and a Tri-Square.

Step 4.  I cut off the first piece of wood using a Backed Saw.

Step 5.  I then marked out the Joint using a Tri-sqaure and a Pencil.

Step 6.  Then I used a backed saw to make 2 saw cuts and then I chiselled in between the two saw cuts.

Step 7.  After that Sir gave me a piece of wood to draw my truck design.

Step 8. Then he gave the piece for the back of the truck, then he glued some pieces of wood onto it.

Step 9. The put a hole through it and put a small cylinder throuigh it.

Step 10. Sir put on the handle and then he put on all the other pieces.

Step 11. He put on the string and the hook, then I used a sharpie to draw my design.

I have chosen to make a Tow Truck for my Friend/cousin's little brother. I think this is the best choice because he has a Truck and he could hook the tow truck's hook onto the truck and drive it around. It would be used for hooking it onto a truck, he will use it at home. For this project I will have to consider having no sharp edges because he is little and he could get hurt.
