Summer Learning Journey Week 3 Day 5

Activity 1: Hiking Tongariro
On your blog tell us what you would need to pack if you were going to hike the Tongariro Crossing. What should you bring with you?

Other than making sure that you have the right equipment, what else should you do before heading out on a big hike? Click here to learn how to stay safe while you’re hiking.

1.I would take some water bottle.
2.I would take food in some zip lock bags or if they are already in a bag then I would leave.
3.I would take a backpack to put everything in it.
4.I would take a hat.
5.I would take healthy snacks in a sip lock bag.

Bonus Activity: You Have to Pay to Play
On your blog, tell us what you think. Should students have to pay money (tuition fees) to go to university? Why or why not?
I think students shouldn't pay money to go University because they are only going there to learn.

  1. Hey there Laki, thanks for suggesting a few items to bring when hiking the Tongariro crossing. I've been thinking about doing it recently so it's a big help reading your post.

I was wondering what kind of healthy snacks you would bring?

What would you do in the morning? What would you have for breakfast?

I'd definitely bring a charged cellphone.

    Thanks, Billy

  2. Hi again Laki, thanks for sharing your thoughts on whether or not students should have to pay fees to attend university. I agree with you, I don't think students should have to pay fees to study and learn.

Can you think of another good reason why they shouldn't have to pay fees to go to university?

Thanks, I am looking forward to hearing more of your ideas.

  3. Hey there Laki, thank you for completing activity two. Thanks for completing a profile about Bill English, the 39th Prime Minister of New Zealand. I think he has quite a few children. It would be interesting to know what part of the country they live in. Do you think you would enjoy being Prime Minister? What sort of changes would you make in society? Would you change the way schools operate?

    Thanks, Billy
