Summer learning Journey Week 1 Day 4 Activity 2

Activity 2: Pancakes and Maple Syrup?

For this activity you are asked to choose one of your favourite foods. On your blog, write the name of your favourite food and then tell us how to make it. You may need to ask a family member, friend or Google (!) for help, if you do not normally make this food for yourself.

Pancakes -

Whisk 1 1/2 cups flour, 3 tablespoons sugar, 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder, 1/2 teaspoon salt and 1/4 teaspoon baking soda in a medium bowl.

Whisk 1 cup plus 2 tablespoons milk, 4 tablespoons melted butter and 1 egg in a separate bowl; fold into the flour mixture until just combined (it's OK if there are some lumps).

Brush a large nonstick skillet or griddle with butter and heat over medium-low heat. Add ¼ cupfuls of batter and cook until bubbly on top and golden on the bottom, about 4 minutes. Flip and cook until golden on the bottom, about 2 more minutes. (Makes 6 to 8 pancakes.)

  1. Hi Laki,

What an amazing recipe for pancakes! Do you find them easy to make? Sometimes my pancakes stick to the pan. Once my son tried to make pancakes when I wasn't home. He ended up having to throw them out. So I guess pancakes aren't as easy to make as we think!

What else to you like to eat?

Well done on finishing this activity. I think that you have done a great job finding a excellent recipe for pancakes. Is this a family recipe or did you get it from somewhere like a cookbook? Also, what do you like to have on you pancakes? Keep up the good work.
