Summer Learning Journey Week 2 Day 3 Activity 3

Activity 3: The Midnight Zone

On your blog, tell us how you will solve this maths problem. You can write your answer in words, use a Sketchpad image or post a video explaining how you would figure it out. Be sure to give us your final answer. .

only the adults carrying the squid because adults can lift 25kgs,
25x4 = 100kgs, 25x8 = 200kgs. double that to make 400kgs with 16 audlts, then add another 4 to make 100 more kgs. After that the full equation is like this.

25x20 = 500kgs

So it is 20 Adults.

  1. Hey Laki,

    Your answer is correct if you were to only think about adults who could come together to lift the giant squid. Do you think there would be any other ways to solve this problem?

    Remember an average child can also lift 15 kg which means they are also capable of lifting the squid. You would need more for the total number of children of course. There are many possible answers to this question and you can mix up the two and say '__ adults AND __ children' can lift the squid.

    Keep up the great work and I look forward to your reply,
    Susie :)

  2. Hi Laki,
    Great job on completing this activity! You did a great job using your math skills to solve this problem. That giant squid sure is heavy. Because they are so slimy, how hard do you think it would be to carry one in real life? Keep up the excellent work.
